Supporting you

We recognise that this is a new concept for many pharmacy professionals and some people will need help and support – take a look below for ideas about who to contact for advice.

Local colleagues and work partners can be a key source of support, as well as other healthcare professionals who are doing a similar role to you. They can offer great insights into how they have applied the consultation skills practice standards and a patient-centred approach into their practice. Why not try to find a buddy and share experiences?
We are sure your employer will want to help you improve your skills in this area. Ask for consultation skills to be included on agendas at meetings or training schedules. Also look at the Employers and trainers section of this website to see what your employer might be doing.
The RPS provides a focus for useful discussion forums via their website, as well as a mentoring scheme. Local practice forums are ideal ways to network - why not talk to your local practice forum about running a local event? We have included more specific information about the support the RPS can offer on the RPS pages of this website.
Think about contacting your local APTUK branch to run an event on consultation skills. Join their Facebook page, or follow them on Twitter to share your learning, liaise with colleagues and ask for support from others. You’ll find more information about the support available from APTUK on their page of this website.
If you practise in England you can access a range of online resources from CPPE , as well as local events supported by local tutors. If you work in a large organisation and would find it helpful to have a visit from a member of the CPPE team to discuss the wider promotion of this consultation skills programme, then just contact CPPE.
Look at the Social media screen for ideas about extending your working and learning support networks.
